An Interesting New Medical Discovery

The first and most common symptom of alopecia is hair loss.alopecia You might notice: small bald patches on your head or other areas of your body. Such patches may become bigger and grow into a significant bald spot known as a bald patch. Hair usually grows in one place and then falls out in the other. But when you experience alopecia, which means "hair loss" in English, this happens in several places simultaneously.

When you have such patches on your head or elsewhere on your body, your doctor will likely prescribe minoxidil.alopecia alopecia If you have a problem with allergens or an auto-immune disorder, you will have to take your chances with other treatments like chemotherapy. Minoxidil actually helps the body to fight these problems. The FDA has approved the use of minoxidil for at least 50% of people with mild to moderate baldness. The FDA has not approved minoxidil for use in treating male pattern baldness.

You see, there is yet a third group that the FDA has not approved the use of minoxidil for. In the third category of people with alopecia areata, or "wild hair loss," women often have a much greater problem than men. Women's hair loss can be very extreme, including complete hair loss and the inability to grow back any hair. Sometimes women only suffer from thinning scalp. There are other female symptoms such as patches of scalp acne.

You may feel some discomfort in your head or neck when you wear wigs. Some women wear wigs so they no longer feel the discomfort because they no longer have the hair on their scalps. But some women actually develop autoimmune conditions which cause their hair loss and scalp to become extremely dry and brittle.

Some women who wear wigs may even find that their hair loss becomes more severe. You will probably also notice that your eyebrows begin to recede. This is caused by the constant pulling of the wig on your scalp. Eyebrow extensions are another way that women with alopecia can lose their eyebrows.

There is a lot of confusing information about alopecia out there. You can lose your eyebrows if you are a woman suffering from alopecia areata, but this is not true. You also may not lose your eyelashes because of alopecia. The primary causes of hair loss on the scalp are stress, genetics, diseases, and illnesses such as HIV and chemotherapy. Talk to your doctor or health care provider to find the best treatments for your hair loss problem.
